The World War Two Group is primarily a North West of England based living history and battle reenactment group dedicated to recreating the experiences, sights and sounds of the latter years of the 2nd world war.
Within our portrayal we aim to realistically as possible, recreate the drill, tactical manoeuvres, military uniforms and behaviour of the everyday soldier, both allied and axis.
We do not aim to glorify any aspects of the war or to endorse any of the political regimes of that time from any of the nations involved during that terrible conflict.
For those who do not wish to wear a military uniform some of our members also portray adult and youth civilians of the 40's period.
Members who do not want to wear a military uniform but would still like to carry a weapon, the civilian portrayal allows for this, you can become a resistance member. We also have several members who portray, Womans land Army, Russians and French police.
We have members in our group from all walks of life: policemen, registered nurses, building trades, drivers, etc. whatever your age, shape and size, there is a portrayal in our group for you, we do not discriminate as long as you are willing to undertake your chosen portrayal as accurately as possible.
We are a friendly, family orientated group, partners and children can also come along and get involved.
We choose our events at the beginning of the year very carefully so that all the members can choose which they would like to attend, whether its riding on a steam train, blatting at a public / private battle or talking to the public in our living history displays, there are events just right for you.
Before you come along to our events, you will be required to sign a membership form (this covers you on our Public Liability Insurance), however there is NO subscription charges until you have attended your first TWO events, this gives you the opportunity to come along see what we do and meet the members. Once you have joined officially, you will be issued with a group membership card.
On the 21st June 2008, the WW2 Group officially joined W.A.R.S as part of their umbrella organisation. We look forward to working along side of them at future events.
